One part seminar, one part hands-on workshop, Suzanne Agins and Josh Hecht will lead you step by step through getting your script off the pile and into the hands of the gate-keepers.
- Learn how to specifically target the theater that's the best match for you and your play.
- Learn how to write an effective synopsis that actually gives the Literary Manager the info s/he needs, while avoiding common traps. Real-time writing exercise and feedback will get you thinking and writing about your play right away.
- Learn what Literary Managers are looking for in a sample, and which ten pages will best sell your work.
- Learn how to tailor your cover letters to individual theaters’ mission statements. Stand out and get your work read! We will get you writing and give you personalized feedback.
announcing our newest workshop…
The Playwright’s Bootcamp September 17-18, 10am-5pm both days
Two days, half a dozen writing exercises, structured critical response, all designed to go deeper into your unconscious. A great way to dive full-force into your new play or play idea. This workshop will provide you with the structure and discipline to tackle your new play with vigor and imagination. We will work from the premise that the inspiration writers need to create compelling characters and scenarios already exists within your subconscious. Through a series of six sequential writing exercises, Josh and Suzanne will help you get below your censor and access the wealth of information already inside you. You will be amazed at what you already know about your play-world. In addition to these exercises designed to capture your unconscious impulses, there will be a rigorous form of question-based, artist-centered feedback to support these impulses and excavate the content they contain. Come in with a scene, a scenario, a character, or just some notes and ideas and leave with up to 6 scenes and a firm handle on your play.
Each workshop is $199. Or sign up for both for only $350!
All PDC Workshops take place in New York City.
